1719-A [Paris Mint] John Law Sol, Gadoury 276 [as are all of this denomination to follow]. Extremely Fine, a sharp example of this largest copper coin. The legends, date and mintmark are all bold, and the design detail strong. Olive brown, the surfaces lightly rough as typical for the type, but not bad at all. While Paris was the main French mint, it did not strike much copper coinage in this era (though it did produce significant amounts of silver and gold). In Smith’s census he examined 262 Sols, of which only 17 were of this date and mint, making it scarce, especially so sharp.
