1721-M [Toulouse Mint] John Law Silver 1/3 Ecu, Gadoury 306. Very Fine, struck on a new planchet, without the trefoil mark under the obverse bust. The legends and date are strong, the mintmark weaker but visible. There are heavy adjustment marks at the lower obverse, done with enough pressure to force the planchet slightly out of round at that area, most noticeable when viewed from the reverse where there is a distinct tab at the top of that side. Struck from late states of both dies, with notable crumbling in the fields and a few diebreaks in the legends. Light gray with some darker hue around the obverse periphery. A rarer mint, Toulouse struck both recoined and virgin planchet versions for this year, with this type by far the rarer of the two, noted and priced as such in Gadoury.
