1721-S [Reims Mint] John Law Silver 1/6 Ecu, Gadoury 297. Choice Extremely Fine, struck over an earlier 20 Sols, which is dated 1720, the two strikes aligned so that they overlap at the date, and with nice jumbling of the legends between the two coins. Rather bold, the overstrike with extremely sharp design details, though remnants of the undertype’s design are still visible, especially the lower part of the bust on the obverse. Lovely golden and light blue toning with no real marks from circulation and just some light wear at the high points. A very attractive example. The 1/6 Ecu was struck from 1720-3, with all mints striking the first year, dwindling to just a dozen in the final year.
