1767-A French Colonies Copper Sou. Vlack 7-N, without the RF countermark. Fine, in an ANACS holder graded F12. The legends are full, IES of COLONIES weaker on the reverse and just partially visible, the remainder of the legends all bold. Light russet brown, the surfaces hard enough to the eye, the planchet with some light roughness from tiny striations in the copper, and either side with some marks from circulation, including an obverse scratch that has toned down to the surface color. A very rare variety, from the Philip Keller collection, purchased in 1976 from David Sonderman who was the second dealer in the United States to specialize in colonial coins, after Richard Picker; accompanied by Keller’s original envelope.
