scene on $4 note, JDS pencilled below (J. D. Smillie engraved the vignette, and was so bold as to enter part of his name on the building at the far right); additional pencil notations at bottom.  Two vignettes of Lord Elgin, one with a floral frame as on the $4, and the other without a frame.  Also, Bank of Western Canada, die proof of portrait of Prince Consort, after Winterhalter, seen on the $4 note, also on Ontario Bank $20 of 1860; St. George slaying dragon, die proof vignette as on Bank of Western Canada $5, mounted on card which has a tear at top but vignette is practically unaffected.
