An early Halifax, Nova Scotia Bill of Exchange issued by Michael Francklin, later to become Lieutenant Governor, to Lieu. Neville Woolseley for 17 pounds, 5 shillings, 1 pence Halifax currency, dated April 21, 1758. Payment was for sloop retaken by the schooner Monckton, Commander Philip Cosby at Lunenburg and this was considered the prize money. The money was paid to Joseph Permette, a wealthy Halifax merchant. A nice historical, early document.
