Br 528. Quebec Bank penny, 1852.

CH PC-4. A break from border between beads through right curve of D and beyond by about 5mm. ICCS MS-60.

The reverse depicts the arms of Quebec, the design of which was executed by artist Joseph Légaré in 1833, the same year that the arms of Montreal were created, possibly by Duncan for Mayor Viger. The obverse design, accomplished by James Duncan gives these Provincial coins the status of having involved two of Canada's most influential artists of the second quarter of the 19th century.
