5 shares Red, 1979, VF, crisp paper. This was a holding company was established in the late 1970s by the government of Premier W.R. Bennett. This company held various stakes in mining and forestry companies in the province of BC. In order to promote "people's capitalism" and give the citizens of BC a stake in the economy, 5 free shares were given to each resident of the province. This company started to flounder in the early 1980s as interest rates were rising and commodity prices were collapsing. Shares that were sold to the public at $6, rose to $9 then sank to pennies per share. Shares were consolidated 125 to 1 and the company became Westar Group Ltd and bought out in 1997. Very unusual piece of Canadian financial history. 6 Pcs.
