(Society for Promoting Arts and Commerce) Inspired by the ancient JUDAEA CAPTA coins of Roman Emperor Vespasian. Commemorates the fall of New France with the surrender of the last governor-general, Pierre Francois de Rigaud, Marquis de Vaudreuil-Cavagnal, to British General Jeffrey Amherst on September 8, 1760. The French eventually ceded all of Canada to the British on February 10, 1763 through the Treaty of Paris, which ended the Seven Years' War and its North American component, the French and Indian War. CAST probably 19th Century.
