An ornate cane topper, gold filled with an engraved plaque stating "Presented to the Hon. Dr. Roy By The Dominion Liberal Association, Mar. 19, 1906". A very interesting piece of Canadian history. Dr. Philippe Roy (1868-1948) came from Quebec and was called to the Senate in 1906. Presumably the cane was presented at that time. He later served as ambassador to France from 1928 to 1938. He was succeeded By Georges Vanier who later became Governor General of Canada.
