A great fur trade document from Montreal in 1823. It is a contract between the North West Fur Trading Company and Joseph Frappier of St. Hubert to paddle a 'frator" canoe to Fort William. A.N. M'Leod represented the company. Frappier signed with a "X" because he was illiterate. M'Leod was a principal in the North West Company and had been a fur trader since 1792.Mint condition.*
