McLachlan-161, Breton-119. 41mm. 27.2g. Plain edge. Signed C.F. CARTER. Carter was a Birmingham medallist who advertised in the Canadian Antiquarian and Numismatic Journal. He was responsible for several McGill University medal designs. The Prince of Wales medal was founded by its namesake through an endowment of £200 during his visit to Canada. It was awarded for “logic and mental and moral philosophy.” This attractive award medal is near-perfectly preserved with iridescent toning over glossy golden-brown surfaces.
From the Michael Joffre Collection of Canadian Historical Medals.
