CH-PC-2A1. 1837 Province Du Bas Canada City Bank and Bank of Montreal Mule Penny (526A.88.1). Obv: door with inner moulding and knob, the top one-third of door shows a cud, the only instance this occurs in this series. A defect from a rusted die is seen just above roof below O in OF at 12 o’clock and on walkway above O in OF at 6:30. The last two defects are present on all obverse varieties of this series. Rev: Large tool mark extends from beaver’s back; light die crack extends from rim missing P in Penny continuing through E and right leg of first N ending at angled leg of same letter, this is the only instance these two markers occur in this series; Outer rim of garter broken at the top; V-shaped crack in the die on St. Andrew's Cross; Two small specks of die rust deterioration seen above top oak leaf on right between and near two rim beads. The last three defects are seen on all reverse varieties of this mule. Recently described by the cataloguer of the April 20 - 23, 2018 CCE World Coins Signature Auction, Chicago Sale #3064, Robins sale. Very scarce. Nice Choice UNC. Ex. Robins.
