CH BL-53A1. ICCS EF-40. Howland Wood concluded that the reverse was inspired by the Habitant token reverse which bore arms similar to those of Montreal, within an oval. The arms of Montreal were devised by Jacques Viger, Mayor of Montreal in 1833, but the central area is composed of the St. Andrew's cross, not the Union Jack which appears on the Blacksmith copper, as Wood himself points out. Rare.
