1767-A French Colonies Copper Sou. Vlack 6-F, without the RF countermark. Extremely Fine, high in that grade level in terms of strike and wear, the coin cleaned in the past and now mostly retoned, though with some light remnants of pinkish hue at the lower obverse; this will continue to tone down and the coin will look far more natural. Boldly struck, every detail razor sharp, including every letter of the reverse legend which sometimes comes weak. Very dark brown, with the hint of cleaning mentioned. The surfaces are hard to the eye, though some light planchet flaws can be seen on either side, all of which were on the planchet prior to striking. There are a couple scratches, ancient and toned down to the surface color so not as noticeable as they would be if fresh. Not a bad looking example of the type, and when the color tones down a bit more, it will be quite attractive. From the Philip Keller collection, purchased from Richard Picker in 1961 and accompanied by his original envelope.
