Wonderful discovery note of the Central Bank of New Brunswick. Dated, December 6, 1838, one pound, signed by Robert Gowan, Cashier and John Simpson, President. Gowan was Cashier from 1834 to 1839 and Simpson was President for only one year, 1838-39. The note is mounted on a fancy beize-white paper with notes written above and below the note. The writing states the following: "This note which was issued during the Presidency of Papa and has been his possession for nineteen years is now cancelled & presented by him to me which I revere sincerely for the autograph." Signed __ E. Simpson, Dated December 6, 1857. This is a much earlier date of the Central Bank than previously known. (1838) S/N:1259/A EF.
