1856 Nova Scotia Token Cliché - This lot features an unusual, probably unique, Nova Scotia cliché. A cliché is a stereotype plate derived from an engraving on a piece of metal. It is similar to a die trial that one might squeeze to make an impression. It is on white metal and the only specimen known to this cataloguer. The original dies were engraved by the Royal Mint in London, England. The actual tokens were minted by the Heaton Mint for the Nova Scotia government. ( Charlton NS-6A1) Ex:Baldwin 1957, Norweb 1997.
