This medal was issued jointly by the American Numismatic Society and the New York Historical Society to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the purchase of Manhattan Island by the Dutch in 1626. The present example is numbered 10 on the edge, and is from a mintage of just 50 silver impressions. Ex: (Bowers and Merena's) Robert W.
