1931 Bank of Montreal $5 "C" Test Note - CH 505-58-02c. One of the great rarities of 20th century Canadian chartered bank notes, this is only the second known example of the series C test note issued by the Bank of Montreal. It is also the finest known example, a bright, clean and original VF+, with just a bit of wear seen on the corners. Series C test notes were the “control” test, printed on Crane’s paper from Massachusetts.
General Manager W. A. Bog is portrayed at the left and President Sir Charles Gordon at the right, with the arms of the bank in a large green V in the centre, and an old engraving of the Head Office building, unchanged from its introduction in 1904, is seen on the back. Rare Test Issue with S/N: C1277868.
