Bahamas 1968 Specimen Banknote Set, $1 to $100
Bahamas, 50 Cents; $1; $3; $5; $10; $20; $50; $100, P.26s to P.33s, inclusive, Uncirculated, all overprinted SPECIMEN, with “000000” serial numbers, first type of issue, without hole punches. In 1968, there were two varieties of Specimen sets. The first type was issued for presentation, while the second type was holed punched and placed in a booklet and sold to collectors. As this second type was enclosed in heavy plastic pages, the notes are usually well wrinkled, as the plastic shrunk. The rarer first type, of which there might have been 100 sets in total, are usually quite nice, as this Uncirculated set is. With the $20 note now bringing upwards of $3,000, and the $50 and $100 notes bringing $5,000 to $10,000, in Uncirculated issued form, these sets represent the only reasonable opportunity to purchase these highest denominations in any form.
