Bronze and Aluminum. Lot of two medals. Each is 62mm with edges stamped CARON FRERES INC. and signed by C. Huot and A. Laliberté. They celebrate the tricentenary of the consecration of Canada to Saint-Joseph by the Recollets of New France in 1624. According Daniel Racine, writing in the Cap-Aux-Diamants Revue d’histoire du Quebec (Winter 2015), these medals were the brainchild of Father Charles-Alfred-Marie Paradis. They were sold in gold ($100), silver ($35), bronze ($15), and aluminum ($5). The lot includes: 1.) Bronze. 86.1g. Attractive olive-gold colour. 2.) Aluminum. 29.1g. Satiny frost-white surfaces.
