Two wonderful documents of the Bank of Upper Canada, 1821-1866 situated in York, Upper Canada. There is an excellent summary of the bank's operations in the Charlton Standard Catalogue of Canadian Bank Notes by Robert Graham. The first specimen is "Scrip for New Stock" signed by Thos. Ridout, the bank's cashier. It is dated December, 1844. It is for 80 shares. The second is a receipt issued in 1833 for an installment payment for 20 shares. These are two very nice and interesting early banking documents.*
