A certificate of appointment to John Lewis Williams Son of R.W. Williams, to the rank of Lieutenant in the Militia of Canada. It is dated 1907 and is signed by the Minister of Militia and Defence F.W. Borden. It is also counter-signed by Governor General Grey. A wonderful piece of Canadian history with two important signatures.

This lot relates to R.W. Williams of Three Rivers, Quebec. He began his pharmacy in 1879 and issued “business cards” circa 1891 shown as Leroux 994 and Breton 614 and 615. It appears he partnered with a druggist named Hoerner by 1885. Hoerner had issued his own token as Breton 613. These lots will be of interest to the serious Breton token collector.
