Canadian Countermark - TK countermark on very worn rev. and T.E. WRIGHT on obv. of what appears to be a Camac, Kyam, Camac Irish ½ penny (1792-94) (M.I. 903, Brunk K-16).

Various speculations have been made concerning the possible issuer of these marks which I have only seen on early (pre-1840) coppers. My most recent notion is that they may represent small change in a lumber camp, and while not provable it seems to me a more tenable suggestion than those previously discussed.

Note: this lot is part of The Richard Cooper Collection.
