J. ST. PIERRE / MAKER (slanted) / STANSTEAD CE (twice) on obv. & rev. of Bank of Upper Canada penny, 1857, Br 719 (M.I. 819). Piece holed.

Jean-Baptiste St. Pierre was a carriage maker, according to the 1869 and 1878 Bradstreet’s reports of the Dominion of Canada (Bradstreet Press, N.Y., 1869; The Bradstreet Co., N.Y., 1878), and Lovell’s Canadian Dominion directory for 1871, published by John Lovell. He was born on March 24, 1832, and was 69 years old at the time of the 1901 Federal Census. (Marked Impressions).
