"Prince Arthur", as found on the 1871 $4; Approval proof on card, C. A. Bogert, on 1931 issue notes.  C. H. Carlisle, approval proof on full card, on 1935 issue notes, appears to bear Carlisle's manuscript signature.  Moreover, a notation on the back of the card reveals the engravers involved.  Lot includes two almost identical vignettes of the Head Office 1879 - 1914, V-46 and V-46a, engraved by Dominion Bank Note Co.  They differ in presence or absence of the flag at the top of the building.  The two portraits are in excellent condition, the building vignettes are cut down and have minor damage and soiling.  Finally, a piece of engraved text with the bank name etc., possibly intended for a cheque.
