The Feversham was on its way from New York with three other ships carrying provisions. The plan was to meet up with a British campaign against the French. All four ships sank off Scatarie Island near Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on October 7, 1711. Approximately 100 people perished, and the 49 survivors were transported to New York by a French fishing boat. This lot includes a Potosi, assayer V, waves/pillar type 8 real cob, 1683, double dated. 22.9 grams. Nice obverse, fine. Ex:Nadin Davis International.
