CL 108. 51.3mm. 103.7g, 18k. Plain edge. Gilbert John Elliot-Murray-Kynymound, the 4th Earl of Minto, served as Governor General between 1898 and 1904. According to Freeman Clowery, only 29 of these medals were issued in gold (327 in silver, 277 in bronze). We presume a healthy number of gold medals have been lost, or melted over the years. This example has lightly circulated surface marks on yellow-gold surfaces with slight hint of cleaning. From the Geoffrey Bell Collection.
