Drafts, promissory notes, bills of exchange drawn in New Brunswick, 1818 - 1860, all pre-decimal (denominated in £.s.d). Some of the names involved can be found with internet searches. A particularly interesting example is an 1827 promissory note on a partially printed form and dated "On board the Steam Boat General Smyth St. George". The payee is James Segee, who lived circa 1770 to 1846, arrived in New Brunswick in 1783 with his UEL parents, and served for twenty years as master of a steam boat on the St. John River.
Eighteen historic documents.
