Betts-41, Jamieson-8, Eimer-654. 44.5mm. 41.3g. Plain edge. Unsigned. A 20th century restrike of an Indian peace medal that commemorated relations between the Quakers of Pennsylvania and the Native American tribes with whom they traded. Originals were engraved by Edward Duffield and struck by the noted Philadelphia silversmith Joseph Richardson. This piece has been holed at 12 o’clock. Verdigris occurs around the peripheries and there is considerable roughness and rim bumps on each side.
