Lot of 3 Tiffin Halfpennies - Br 960, CH LC-48B, Tiffin Halfpennies, Courteau 25, CH LC-46A1, about EF; Courteau 26, CH LC-46A3, VF+; Courteau 27, CH LC-46A2, EF. 3 attractive Pcs. Courteau described 27 varieties of halfpennies with a similar design, with and without a reverse legend, and all have come to be known as Tiffins. However, if Joseph Tiffin of Montreal did import the well made examples in copper, Courteau nos. 25, 26, and 27, he was not responsible for the 24 imitation varieties in brass and copper, Courteau nos. 1 to 24, which were issued many years after the date 1812 which appears on them and may have been struck locally. 3 Pcs.
