Charlton-1455-5. 45.1mm. 39.8g. Plain edge. Signed P.W. ELLIS & CO. TORONTO. Per the Charlton reference on association and society medals (2008): “On April 14, 1858, 62 manufacturers, merchants and journalists met in the St. Lawrence Hall in Toronto for the purpose of recommending such a readjustment of the tariff as would place the manufacturers of Canada on a footing of greater equality with these of the United States, according to the Toronto Globe. The gathering marked the beginning of what was to be known as the Canadian Manufacturers’ Association.” This white metal example boasts eye-catching proof surfaces. Both sides are totally brilliant with clean fields and pinpoint definition.
