Breton-132. Lot of three. All 44mm with plain edges and unsigned. 1.) Copper. 35.4g. 3.7mm thick. Likely a die set-up piece with curious rim flaws (as-made), areas of excessive strike softness on each side, and circular lathe lines visible at the central obverse. 2.) Copper. 54.7g. 4.6mm thick. A regular-production example with a full strike and no lathe lines or rim flaws visible. 3.) White metal. 33g. 3.7mm. Brilliant with undistracting marks. Slightly scarcer in white metal.
Research by Jacob Lipson suggests these medals were struck between 1882 and 1888. Although the medal refers College St. Joseph, it depicts College St. Laurent. The building still stands in the North Montreal suburb of St. Laurent.
