McLachlan-484, Charlton-EDOA-3. 41.4mm. 32.9g. Cornucopia and CUIVRE on edge. Signed P. TASSET. Struck at the Paris Mint after 1879. McLachlan writes in Canadian Numismatics: “This medal was first given in gold, silver and bronze to the Canadian exhibitors at the Centennial Exhibition in 1876 [in Philadelphia]. It has been given at one or two Dominion Exhibitions since then. The dies were executed in Paris on the order of Mr. Perault, who was one of the Canadian Commissioners at the Exhibition. The relief is low, and the angel on the obverse a stock design.” This is an unnamed example with golden-brown surfaces and red-violet colour around the devices. The angel and shield shows light high-point rub.
