McLachlan-278, Breton-146. 44.5mm. 50.2g. Plain edge. Signed F.B. SMITH [New York]. Victoria College of Cobourg was founded in 1841 and became a fully fledged university after arts classes were added to its traditional theological training a few years later. The college merged with the University of Toronto in 1890. This medal was founded by the Prince of Wales during his tour of Canada in 1860. Some minor chatter appears in the central reverse field, but this piece is otherwise flawless. Void of wear or edge marks.
From the Michael Joffre Collection of Canadian Historical Medals.
