Breton-24, Jamieson-35, BHM-1975, Eimer-1347c. 37.7mm. 30.1g. Plain edge. Signed W. WYON R.A. Holed at 12 o’clock with original pin for suspension but loop is missing. The smallest size in the series of Indian peace medals issued for the Prince of Wales’ Royal Visit in 1860. These are much rarer than their large-size counterparts but not quite as elusive as the medium or second size variant. This medal was clearly distributed during the Royal Visit. It is abraded and worn with bright silver surfaces — exactly what one would hope to see for a medal that had been given out. Not to be overlooked.
This is part of the Geoffrey Bell Collection.
