McLachlan-129, Betts-418, Breton-49, Eimer-677. 43.9mm. 29.9g. Plain edge. Unsigned. A popular medal commemorating four British victories in North America (Quebec, Niagara, Guadeloupe, Crown Point), plus those in Lagos and Minden. The reverse includes the locations, dates and commanders involved. Possibly by J. Kirk, per Eimer, though the medal is unsigned. This copper example is medium brown with delicate violet patina and minimal marks or carbon spots. A small planchet crack (as made) appears from the rim down the left side of the I in GEORGIVS.
From the Michael Joffre Collection of Canadian Historical Medals.
