NOVA SCOTIA MERCHANT TOKENS - Robert Hopwood & Son, Br 898

Fine +. A token of a woolen mill in the Nova Scotia area of Blackburn, Lancashire, erroneously attributed to Canada by Leroux and Breton. While Breton later "cancelled" the Canadian attribution of this piece, it has frequently been included in Canadian collections. An uncommon piece, in a scarcer, uncountermarked state. see Fred Bowman, "English Tokens Sometimes Classed as Canadian," CNB, Vol. 6, No. 4 (April 1955), p. 54.

Note: this lot is part of The Richard Cooper Collection.
