NGC MS64 Brown,  MI-II-705/439, McLachlan-125, Betts-421, Breton-51, Eimer-673. 40mm. 28g. Plain edge. Unsigned (by John Pingo). As with the Montreal Taken and Canada Subdued medals, the engraver employed the popular Judea Capta motif with a defrocked French soldier bound to the stump of a tree with Victory right. This bronze example is a Gem. Glowing copper-orange colour surrounds the devices on each side with an overlay of violet and blue patina over the exposed fields. Spectacular quality and worth a premium bid.
