Wood 23. Bust R/Brit. R. - CH BL-40. N.S. 4.99 grams. First Issue. Early Die State B. The long break at back of head is thin, and on this sole example the diamond-shaped break at top has not formed. F-VF, hole at bottom of bust, pierced from the rev. top right border. The Everingham specimen, sold in 1989 had a similar holed piece as the first entry, but it had the diamond-shaped break at top. This new discovery was written up in the Canadian Token issue for December, 1994 by Gord Nichols from whose collection Len Buth acquired it. Rare, and the only one seen with this die orientation, which only occurs with later pieces of the Fourth Issue. I did sell a specimen called Die State A in 1993, but did not record it as being N.S.

Note this lot is part of the Richard Cooper Collection.
